Skin Rejuvenation
Red light therapy penetrates deep into the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production, reduce fine lines, improve skin tone and texture, and accelerate cell turnover. The result is visibly firmer, smoother, more radiant skin — without downtime or invasive procedures. Suitable for all skin types and tones.
Body Contouring
Specific wavelengths of red light stimulate adipocytes to release stored fatty acids, supporting targeted inch loss and body reshaping. Combined with the vibration plate, lymphatic drainage is enhanced for improved results. A non-invasive, comfortable alternative to more aggressive body treatments.
Photobiomodulation & Fat Loss, Explained
Pain Management
Photobiomodulation has a well-documented anti-inflammatory effect, reducing pain signals at the cellular level. Whether you are managing chronic joint pain, back pain, arthritis, or muscular tension, red light therapy offers drug-free relief by improving circulation and reducing inflammation in affected tissues.
Sports Recovery
Used by elite athletes worldwide, red light therapy accelerates muscle recovery by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation post-training. Faster recovery means more consistent training, better performance, and reduced injury risk. Ideal for Paarl school athletes and serious sportspeople looking for a competitive edge.
Wound Healing
Red light therapy has been clinically shown to accelerate wound healing by stimulating fibroblast activity and increasing local circulation. It supports faster closure of surgical wounds, reduces scarring, and improves tissue regeneration — making it a valuable tool in post-procedure recovery and skin repair.
Longevity
At the cellular level, red light therapy supports mitochondrial health — the foundation of energy production and healthy ageing. Regular sessions have been associated with improved cognitive function, hormonal balance, better sleep quality, and systemic anti-inflammatory benefits. Longevity is not one treatment. It is a consistent practice.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the technical specs of the MedWave device?
The MedWave Contour-100S uses 585 high-output LEDs with 3,000W total power output and 1,500W therapeutic delivery. It operates at a precision 635nm red light wavelength, targeting subcutaneous tissue up to 3–4cm deep for measurable results across skin rejuvenation, body contouring, fat loss, pain relief, and recovery.
What is MedWave Photobiomodulation?
MedWave uses clinical-grade red light (photobiomodulation) to stimulate cellular energy production at the mitochondrial level. It is non-invasive, drug-free, and backed by over 1,000 peer-reviewed studies.
Is it safe?
Yes. MedWave is SAHPRA registered and FDA exempt. Treatments are non-invasive with no known side effects, and administered at a SAHPRA-compliant studio managed by a registered nurse.
How long is a session?
Red light only sessions take approximately 20–30 minutes. If you add the vibration plate, allow around 45 minutes for the full combined protocol.
How many sessions do I need?
This depends on your goal. We recommend a package of at least 8–12 sessions for optimal results, though many clients notice improvements after just a few sessions.
Why combine red light with the vibration plate?
The vibration plate boosts circulation and increases oxygen delivery to treated tissue — amplifying the results of the red light session. Research shows whole body vibration increases oxygen consumption by approximately 22% and energy expenditure by approximately 20%.
What conditions can MedWave help with?
MedWave is effective for skin rejuvenation, body contouring, pain and inflammation management, sports recovery, wound healing, and general longevity and wellbeing.
Can high school learners use MedWave?
Yes — we offer a dedicated school learner package for Paarl high school students. A parent or guardian waiver is required before the first session.
Permanent makeup is a cosmetic technique employing micropigmentation — a form of tattooing — to produce designs that resemble makeup. Pigment is applied to the second layer of the skin, the Dermis, creating a soft, lasting result that enhances your natural features.
Who is it for?
From the trendy young to the stylish and elegant elderly — male or female. Permanent makeup is a time-saver for busy lifestyles, a confidence-restorer for those with hair loss or skin conditions, and a practical solution for anyone with allergies or sensitivities to conventional cosmetics.
It has also been used to cover stretch marks, birthmarks, freckles, age spots, uneven skin discolorations, and as an adjunct to reconstructive surgery — including areola restoration and scar camouflage.

Skin and scar camouflage is the tattooing of the skin with flesh tone pigments to minimise the appearance of scars, stretch marks and areas of uneven pigmentation. This specialised area of permanent cosmetics falls under Medical and Para-Medical Tattooing — including areola restoration for post-surgical patients.
Pricing for scar camouflage and areola restoration is determined per consultation, based on the area and complexity of treatment.
What is the difference between traditional tattooing and permanent makeup?
In traditional tattooing, pigment is added to the third layer of the skin. With permanent makeup, pigment is applied to the second layer — the Dermis — creating a softer, more blended result.
Are permanent cosmetics really permanent?
The colour implanted into the skin cannot be washed off. However, as with any tattoo, fading can occur over time — requiring periodic maintenance, colour re-enhancement or refreshing.
Is it painful?
Most people experience some discomfort similar to a plucking or scouring sensation, varying according to individual pain threshold. Topical anaesthetics specifically developed for permanent makeup are used to keep procedures reasonably comfortable.
Is it safe?
Yes. All needles are brand new for each client. All machine parts are thoroughly sterilised and the procedure is performed wearing a fresh pair of synthetic gloves for every individual.
What is a touch-up and when do I need one?
A touch-up is a colour refresher. It is recommended to wait at least six weeks after your initial procedure so the skin has time to heal properly and the pigment has time to settle.
Do I have a choice of colours and placement?
Absolutely. During your consultation, design, colour and pigment placement will be discussed and determined. We only proceed once you have given your final consent.
What is involved in recovery?
You will receive specific aftercare instructions depending on the procedure. Complete healing takes one to six weeks while the pigmentation matures to its final colour. Eyebrows require no downtime. Eyeliner may cause slight swelling depending on the individual.
How long does the procedure take?
Eyebrows take approximately 1½ hours. Eyeliner (top and bottom) approximately 1½ hours. Areola pigmentation 1 to 1½ hours. Very little to no downtime is required depending on the area treated.

Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly are eyelash extensions?
A single synthetic eyelash is attached to each of your natural eyelashes using a special bonding agent — repeating until you have a full set of thicker and longer lashes. The extensions never touch your skin or eyelids; they are bonded 2mm away from the skin.
How do I prepare before my appointment?
Avoid mascara before your appointment — unless it is a specific extension mascara. Cleanse your lashes with a mild oil-free cleanser beforehand. Do not curl your lashes as this makes application more difficult. Remove contact lenses prior to the procedure.
Can I wear mascara with lash extensions?
Yes, you may — though mascara is truly not necessary with extensions. If you do use mascara, choose one that is compatible with lash extensions and avoid oil-based formulas which break down the bonding agent.
How often do I need a fill or touch-up?
Your natural lashes have a growth cycle — approximately four lashes fall from each eye daily and are replaced by new growth. As extensions fall out with your natural lashes, you will notice the difference in length. Fill appointments every two to four weeks keep your lashes looking full, depending on your preference.
Can I use an eyelash curler?
No. The synthetic lash already has a natural curve built in. Using an eyelash curler can disturb the bonding agent and cause premature lash loss.
How do I care for my extensions at home?
Be very gentle when cleansing your face. Avoid rubbing your eyes. Steer clear of all oil-based cleansers, moisturisers, eye treatments and makeup removers — oils dissolve the bonding agent. Keep your eyes as dry as possible for the first 24 hours. Avoid swimming or steam for the first 48 hours after application.
Are lash extensions safe for sensitive or contact lens wearers?
Yes. The bonding agent is available in both medical and performance grades and is suitable for hyper-allergic eyes. Contact lens wearers can safely have extensions applied — simply remove lenses before the procedure. Allergic reactions to the adhesive are extremely rare. If you have previously experienced swollen or puffy eyelids from lash extensions, or have extreme latex allergies, please inform us before booking.
Will my natural lashes fall out?
Your lashes naturally fall out and regrow as part of their normal growth cycle — this happens with or without extensions. The synthetic extension simply falls out along with your natural lash. This is completely normal and not a cause for concern.
Medical-Grade Skin Needling · Performed by SANC Registered Nurse
Dermapen skin needling is a clinically proven, minimally invasive treatment that harnesses your skin’s natural healing response to deliver visible, lasting results. By creating controlled micro-channels in the skin, it triggers the production of collagen and elastin — the building blocks of firm, smooth and youthful skin.
How it works
A sterile, single-use Dermapen tip containing fine needles is gently moved across the skin, creating thousands of microscopic channels. This controlled injury stimulates the skin to repair itself — producing new collagen, improving texture, reducing scarring and evening skin tone.
All Dermapen treatments at Studio on Station are performed by a SANC registered General and Psychiatric Nurse — ensuring clinical precision and the highest standard of care.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Dermapen painful?
Most clients experience mild discomfort during the treatment, often described as a light scratching sensation. A topical numbing cream is applied beforehand to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure.
How long does a treatment take?
A full Dermapen treatment typically takes 45 minutes to 1 hour, including preparation and the application of numbing cream.
What does my skin look like after the treatment?
Immediately after treatment your skin will appear red and flushed — similar to a mild sunburn. This typically subsides within 24 to 48 hours. Some clients experience minor swelling or sensitivity for a day or two. Most people return to normal activities the following day.
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on your skin concerns and goals. Some clients see noticeable improvement after a single session. For more significant concerns such as acne scarring or deep pigmentation, a series of treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart is typically recommended. This will be discussed during your consultation.
How do I prepare for my Dermapen treatment?
Avoid active skincare ingredients such as retinol, AHAs and BHAs for at least 48 hours before your treatment. Arrive with clean skin and no makeup. Avoid prolonged sun exposure in the days leading up to your appointment and ensure your skin is not sunburned on the day.
What aftercare is required?
Keep your skin clean, hydrated and protected. Use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser and apply SPF daily. Avoid active ingredients, exfoliants and direct sun exposure for at least 5 to 7 days post-treatment. Your practitioner will provide specific aftercare guidance after your session.
Is Dermapen safe for all skin types?
Dermapen is suitable for most skin types and tones. However, it is not recommended for clients with active acne breakouts, rosacea flare-ups, open wounds, or certain skin conditions. A consultation prior to treatment ensures Dermapen is appropriate for your specific skin.
When will I see results?
Initial improvements in skin texture and radiance are often visible within a week as the skin heals. Collagen remodelling continues for several weeks after treatment, with more significant results becoming apparent over 4 to 8 weeks. Results continue to improve with subsequent sessions.
